FAQs

still have questions?

Not sure what to expect with your home remodeling project? It can be overwhelming, we know, so here are some FAQ’s to help you understand what to expect with your home remodeling project when you hire Decked Out Builders.

How long does it take to get a quote back from you after the on-site consultation?

We like to have quotes back to you via email within 3-7 business days.  With design renderings or larger project scopes it may take up to 2 weeks.

Do You Use Subcontractors

When it comes to the building aspect we do not subcontract. Electrical, Plumbing, Insulation, Excavation or Concrete we work with our trusted partners to perform the work. We only use subcontractors that we trust and have built a long lasting relationship with.

How Long Is An Estimate Good For?

With the current market our estimates are valid for 14 to 30 days depending on the materials.

How Do You Handle Overruns

With any remodeling project, you can’t see everything until exposed. Any changes are discussed prior and agreed upon by you prior to us taking any action.

Does Every Remodeling Job Need A Permit

It Depends on the scope of work.

Building codes have been established by  cities and townships. They vary considerably from one jurisdiction to another. A building permit generally is required whenever structural work is involved or when the basic living area of the home is to be changed.

Why is it when I get three different estimates that the prices are so different?

Many factors go into pricing a job. Customer Expierence is huge for us! When comparing the most obvious is making sure all the estimates have the same scope of work and materials. It is important to check the contractors reviews & previous work. When a contractor carries all the proper equipment and required insurances, the prices will be higher than a “fly by night” contractor. We aren’t here just to make a buck, we want to provide you with that better contractor experience & relationship. We include our customers in the project the whole time, keep the line of communication open and stand behind our work.

You hired us, now what?
We stay in constant contact! Once you approve the overall design and material selections we will begin the permit process. About a week before we start your project, we like to schedule a pre job meeting on site to go over the full scope of work and answer any questions you may have prior.  While we are building you should get regular updates in person, text or email, if there is a preference of contact please let us know. Once we are closer to the finishing stages we like to do a mid project walk through to make sure  you are happy with the project at this point and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
When the project is completed we will  want to do a final walk through the last hour we are there to make sure every detail is exactly as you imagined with the finished project. We will go through a job completion checklist as attached to your new warranty.
While we are working we try to keep the area as tidy as possible. If any pets or children we recommend to try to keep distance for safety. At the end, we will make sure your new outdoor space is clean and ready for you to enjoy.
